How And What to Prepare Before A Dental Visit
Can you prepare for a dental visit?
If you have a dental appointment coming up, or you’re thinking about booking one, there’s a couple of things you can take into consideration before your visit arrives that will make your visit comfortable and stress-free.
Book the Appointment When You Need It
With dental care, you mustn’t put off the inevitable. In many cases, the longer you wait, the more pain you’ll have to endure while waiting and wondering whether to book an appointment. Waiting too long may make it more difficult to fix the issue, and depending on the business of the week, make it difficult to get an appointment when you most need it.
Transfer Dental Records
If this is your first appointment with us, have your old dental office transfer their records to us to ensure a smooth transition.
The more comprehensive information you can provide us, the better we can help. Consider sitting down and writing a list of dental issues you’ve dealt within the last six months or so to make sure you don’t forget to mention them.
On the Day of the Appointment
Avoid beverages with caffeine or sugar on the day of your appointment, and if you take any medication or vitamins, it’s good to have a list of them with you. Similarly, if you have any questions about the procedure or what to do after it, it’s always better to write them down and bring them with you to make sure you don’t forget. You should also inform your dentist of any changes in your health, particularly if you’ve gotten pregnant.
For your comfort, try to get a good night’s sleep before the visit and wear something you’re comfortable in. We also recommend that you brush and floss your teeth before you arrive for the appointment and that you arrive a little early to have time to complete any forms that need updating and take a moment to relax.
It is difficult to determine when you will need more comprehensive dental care, so staying up to date on routine cleanings and x-rays will minimize any future time at the dentist, which saves you money. Schedule an appointment today.
